Movie Gallery Fighting Blindness23 May, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf
Movie Gallery Inc. has raised $836,800 for the Helen Keller Foundation.
The chain conducted its third consecutive drive for the charity, which uses the funds to pursue retinal detachment, diabetic eye disease, strokes of the eye, and macular degeneration.
Through Movie Gallery's “Be a Star” program, customers and associates at the No. 2 rental chain's 2,700 North American locations were able to make donations to the cause.
“Movie Gallery is committed to the Foundation's efforts to end blindness through medical research, and we look forward to building on the success of our annual effort," said company chairman and CEO Joe Malugen.
