MGM To Roll Out Bowling for Columbine Aug. 1927 May, 2003 By: Joan Villa
Controversial filmmaker Michael Moore will be front and center in numerous bonus features slated for the Aug. 19 special edition DVD release of his documentary, Bowling for Columbine.
The DVD will prebook July 22, priced at $26.98. A VHS will carry a suggested dealer price of $33.
Moore took home a best documentary Oscar for Columbine with a politically charged acceptance speech that elicited both applause and hissing from the audience. MGM Home Entertainment originally assigned Columbine an April street date but later pulled it from the release schedule without explanation.
The special edition DVD will feature an exclusive interview with Moore discussing his Academy Award speech, Moore providing an introduction to the 119-minute documentary and commentary, a featurette of Moore returning to address the University of Denver six months after the film's release and a video montage of Moore accepting the 55th Anniversary Prize at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and his appearances at the Toronto and London film festivals.
Bonus materials also include a Marilyn Manson music video, a teacher's guide and “Mike's Action Guide:” a how-to primer on reversing violence in America.
