MGM To Launch 24-Movie Channel In Middle East

8 Jan, 2002 By: Hive News

MGM Networks will launch a digital, 24-hour MGM-branded movie channel in the Middle East, transmitting over the fully digital, multichannel, multilingual, pay-television Orbit Satellite Television and Radio Network.

The new MGM Movie Channel represents the 15th foreign channel in which MGM holds an equity interest.

Expected to launch in March, the MGM Movie Channel will initially be available on Orbit's premium channel tier via a digital satellite feed across the Middle East and North Africa. The round-the-clock channel will showcase MGM's new and catalog films.

"This new channel venture clearly underscores the continued demand for our content abroad, in a key, growing multichannel television market and marks the latest expansion of MGM-branded channels," said Bruce Tuchman, e.v.p., MGM Networks.

Orbit leads the field in broadcasting in the Arab world with original Arabic and international English language entertainment channels.
