MGM Goes Digital

MGM is launching a new digital media division to be led by industry veteran Douglas A. Lee.

As EVP of the new group, Lee will oversee MGM's digital distribution strategies for TV, Internet, wireless, mobile, broadband and other new digital platforms.

He will work closely with MGM's “strategic partner,” Sony Corporation of America, said Rick Sands, COO of MGM.

Lee comes to the newly created position from his New York consulting company, where he worked with Comcast Cable and Court TV, among others. He has 20 years of experience in the global entertainment business working for 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, Universal Television and HBO.

“There are numerous opportunities to grow and extend the MGM brand in the new media age,” Lee said. “We will look to mine the library for new opportunities that currently exist as well ns plan for new emerging possibilities.”
