Mattel, Miramax to Bow First Stand-Alone ‘My Scene' Video

In a switch, Mattel is producing its first direct-to-video full-length animated feature film with the “My Scene” characters scheduled to be released on DVD in fall 2005.

Miramax Home Entertainment will distribute the untitled and as-yet-unpriced release.

“My Scene” characters include Madison, Chelsea, Nolee and Delancey, four dolls that Mattel markets to pre-Barbie aged girls six years and above.

“This partnership with Miramax … fills a gap in the current home entertainment market for older girls,” said Matt Bousquette, president of Mattel.

El Segundo, Calif.-based Mattel, which has created a series of Barbie videos in association with Lions Gate Home Entertainment, has previously produced two 44-minute “My Scene” videos.

Jammin' in Jamaica bowed at retail earlier this year with a doll as part of an in-package combo; it aired Sunday on Nickelodeon.

Masquerade Madness will be available at retail in a similar format and will air on Nick this fall.
