'Martian Child' Snipped for Dove Foundation

28 Jan, 2008 By: John Latchem

New Line Home Entertainment has trimmed minor lines of dialogue from its film Martian Child to secure the Dove Foundation's seal of approval for a family film.

As indicated at the Dove Foundation's Web site, Martian Child, about a single man raising an adopted son, earned high marks as a family film but was not awarded the Dove seal due to instances of dialogue that “includes the use of the Lord's name in vain.” According to a New Line spokesperson, these lines, which had no bearing on the film as a whole, have since been edited out of the ‘PG'-rated movie by the filmmakers, allowing it to be released on DVD Feb. 12 with the Dove seal on the box.
