Magnolia Bows First Lenticular Packaging21 Apr, 2008 By: Billy Gil
Acclaimed horror film The Signal arrives June 10 (prebook May 13) from Magnolia Home Entertainment on Blu-ray Disc ($34.98) and a special limited edition single-disc DVD with lenticular O-ring packaging ($26.98).
The special packaging is a first for Magnolia, which had a similarly buzzed-about horror title last year with The Host.
“We really wanted to find a creative way to help draw consumer attentionto this amazing film, and the lenticular's motion technology createsmovement on the shelf which pulls your focus directly to this scarymovie in a unique and fun way,” said Randy Wells, head of Magnolia Home Entertainment. “ Additionally the concept of an alternate image/message coming out via the dual image capability offered by the lenticular ties in perfectly to the theme of this film — a mysterious signal is being transmitted through all forms of electronic media.”
The Signal comes with an alternate beginning, deleted scenes and a commentary. Jumper, from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, streets the same day in lenticular packaging.
