The Luck of the Draw May Have a Sony Theme

29 May, 2002 By: Hive News

Sony Pictures has signed a deal with themed instant lottery ticket supplier Promo-Travel International Inc. to promote classic TV properties including Fantasy Island, $100,000 Pyramid, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie to state lotteries.

Promo-Travel International has begun marketing the concept, and expects games to be in the marketplace by the end of 2002 and has opened an office in Los Angeles to acquire other entertainment, lifestyle and sports-related licenses for use by US state lotteries and various international markets.

The company named entertainment industry licensing expert Danny Simon as a partner to head the office and a new subsidiary, Promo-Travel Licensing, Inc.

"Television shows, films, and sports entities are popular themes for instant lottery tickets in the United States and international markets such as Latin America," said Simon. "Our goal is to secure new properties under license, then show lotteries in the U.S. and other countries how our licensed properties provide a unique way to dramatically increase their ticket sales."

Promo-Travel holds exclusive lottery marketing rights to such brands as Caesars Palace, Let's Make A Deal, Hard Rock Cafe, and Elvira.

"When an instant ticket includes a brand or name that consumers recognize and respond to, it draws new players and increases the rate of play. That means an increase in state revenue," explains David Alpert, founding partner of Promo-Travel International. "These brands are highly recognizable and should be especially popular with consumers."
