‘Roseanne,' ‘Third Rock' Coming to DVD2 Mar, 2005 By: Jessica Wolf
The cast of
TV comedies “Roseanne” and “Third Rock From the Sun” will enter the TV DVD market this third quarter through a deal inked this week between Anchor Bay Entertainment and the shows' production company Carsey-Werner.
Both shows will be released with bonus materials and supported with multilevel marketing campaigns, Anchor Bay announced.
Roseanne herself has been pushing for her long-running to hit the hot TV DVD market, the comedienne told Home Media Retailing in March of last year.
“Roseanne” debuted in 1988 and ran for nine seasons, garnering twenty-five Emmy nominations and four wins, three Golden Globe awards, four American Comedy Awards and a Peabody.
“Third Rock From the Sun,” featuring John Lithgow as the leader of a crew of aliens disguised as humans living on Earth, started its six-year run in 1993. Lithgow won three Emmys and a Golden Globe for his lead performance on the show.
It's likely that Lithgow and Roseanne will both be able to provide content for the DVD extras of their respective series, according to Anchor Bay.
