‘Hitchhiker's Guide' Makes Its Way to Video Shelves Sept. 13

Buena Vista Home Entertainment Sept. 13 will simultaneously release DVD and UMD versions of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Each version will be priced at $29.99 with a prebook date of Aug. 2.

The comedy-adventure from Touchstone Home Entertainment took in $49.8 million at the box office.

Based on the best-selling book by Douglas Adams, the sci-fi story is about a man who accompanies his friend, who turns out to be an alien, on a spacecraft ride around the galaxy as the Earth is about to be destroyed.

DVD bonus features include deleted scenes, a commentary track and a making-of featurette.

The ‘PG'-rated film stars Sam Rockwell, Mos Def and Martin Freeman.
