Lorber, Hidden Media Form Digital Co.7 Jun, 2007 By: Chris Tribbey
Lorber Media Inc. and Hidden Treasures Productions Inc. are merging into Lorber HT Digital to acquire documentary programs aimed at select interest groups — content that will be delivered both on DVD and digitally.
Richard Lorber, who will continue to serve as president of Koch Lorber Films, will serve as president and CEO of the new company.
“Our customized Web strategy will supplement delivery across all platforms, whether in virtual or physical form, and allow us to best reach the right communities for our content,” Lorber said. “Whether as DVDs or downloads, widgets or bits, we'll deliver nourishing nonfiction with an impeccable pedigree that thoughtful audiences will want to access and assimilate.”
Initially, Lorber HT Digital will focus on secular spiritual programming, or “transformational programming,” as Lorber calls it.
“Under this umbrella we'll gather the most stimulating and intelligent ‘aha!' titles dwelling … between belief and reason,” Lorber said.
Lorber HT Digital also will look to acquire programs with broader TV and international appeal, and Hidden Treasure Production's nonfiction line — which in the past has produced Secrets of Mary Magdalene and Secrets of Angels, Demons, and Masons — will continue to operate under the new company.
