Lionsgate Unleashes New 'Saw II'

4 Aug, 2006 By: John Latchem

As it did with the original Saw, Lionsgate is preparing an uncut special-edition DVD of Saw II.

The two-disc set streets Oct. 24 (prebook Sept. 27) at $26.98.

Special features include commentary with director Darren Lynn Bousman and other crew members; Bousman's short film Zombie; a making-of featurette; a story-behind-the-story featurette about the events that led to the inspiration of Saw; a tribute to producer Gregg Hoffman; and “Play Me,” a feature that lets viewers unlock life lessons.

The film, about a group of people who must escape a booby-trapped basement before being killed by a lethal nerve gas, stars Donnie Wahlberg, Franky G, Beverley Mitchell, Dina Meyer, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Shawnee Smith and Tobin Bell. It grossed $87 million in theaters.

The DVD of the theatrical version hit shelves in February. Saw III is slated for an Oct. 27 theatrical release.
