Lions Gate Likes CGI

31 Aug, 2005 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Lions Gate Family Entertainment has inked a deal with RichCrest Animation to co-produce Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, the first of three CGI animation feature films slated for theatrical and home entertainment release. The other two titles have not been announced.

Separately, Lions Gate Sept. 6 will bow Inspector Gadget's Biggest Caper Ever ($19.98 DVD/VHS), the first CGI-animated feature from the popular franchise created by DIC Entertainment.

The film features the voice of comedian Bernie Mac as the Gadgetmobile and includes deleted scenes, bloopers, a “Build Your Own Gadget” vignette and “Inspector's School of Gadgetry.” It will come in an embossed metallic case. Last May, the studio released a rubber-embossed slipcase for Speed Racer.
