Lions Gate Gets Its Paws On Palms

Independent film studio Lions Gate Entertainment will provide content for Pocket PC Films, a multimedia distribution service for handheld computers, the companies announced today,

“With palm pilots and two-ways being such an integral part of our day-to-day life now, we wanted to stay ahead of the ever-changing marketplace,” said Peter Block, president Lions Gate Home Entertainment, Acquisitions and New Media. “We appreciate being on the forefront of this innovative distribution opportunity that will provide even more exposure to our films and we are looking forward to watching our library perform on yet another platform.”

The companies will combine resources to domestically distribute Lions Gate Entertainment's film catalog of more than 1,300 films in the handheld device format (Pocket PC and Palm). Lions Gate is incorporating, as part of the agreement, popular titles including Eve's Bayou Anna Kournikova: Basic Elements, Songcatcher, Leprechaun and more.

Pocket PC Films will have access to certain Lions Gate Entertainment programming, including theatrical releases, feature films, television series, and television specials. Pocket PC Films will provide formatted material for use on handheld computers for distribution throughout North America. Lions Gate is one of the first theatrical entertainment companies to use this format.

Pocket PC Films holds a library of more than 25,000 titles ranging from feature films of all genres, including: Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles; business training videos, including: Brian Tracy's Achievement in Action & Accelerative Learning Techniques;

animated and children1s programming, including: Gulliver's Travels; along with sporting programs, including: Skip Fredricks Xtreme Sports; and religious programming.
