Legislators Ask Ashcroft To Fight File Trading

13 Aug, 2002 By: Hive News

The battle over copy protection and Internet file trading is gaining steam on Capitol Hill.

A coalition of 19 federal legislators have sent a letter to Attorney General John Ashcroft asking him to pursue and prosecute “operators of peer-to-peer systems who intentionally facilitate piracy” and “individuals who intentionally allow mass copying from their computer over peer-to-peer networks.”

No response yet from Ashcroft.
