Lakers Take 'Showtime' to DVD

9 Mar, 2007 By: John Latchem

With their flashy style, the Los Angeles Lakers dominated the National Basketball Association in the 1980s, winning five NBA championships and earning the nickname “Showtime.”

Led by hall of famers Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy, the Lakers finally got the better of their longtime rivals, the Boston Celtics, paced by Larry Bird and Kevin McHale.

The historic 1985 finals series between the Lakers and Celtics, won by the Lakers in six games, is being presented in its entirety on a seven-DVD set due March 27 from Warner Home Video.

The $49.98 collection, Los Angeles Lakers: 1984-1985 NBA Champions — Return to Glory, includes the original broadcasts from the six games, plus the vintage highlight film, behind-the-scenes features and interviews.
