Korn and EMI Venture includes DVD12 Sep, 2005 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Following its groundbreaking 2002 partnership deal with British pop artist Robbie Williams, EMI Music has forged a similar joint venture with Grammy-winning rock act Korn.
The deal — through EMI's Virgin Records label — includes a requisite forthcoming album and joint profit-sharing on non-recording activities, including DVD, video games, publishing, touring, and merchandise.
Until recently, music acts have largely been left out of how their music was marketed by the record labels.
Korn has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide.
“I always felt like I was working for a record company,” said Korn lead singer Jonathan Davis. “Now I feel like we have a true partner.”
