Koch Contest Seeks Britney Look-alikes13 Dec, 2003 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Koch Entertainment is offering $1,000 in prizes to three people in the video business who look like Britney Spears.
The promotion is in advance of the Feb. 10 video release of the 2001 indie film Britney Baby, One More Time (available on DVD or VHS for $24.98).
The 81-minute film showcases a fictitious and desperate Milwaukee filmmaker who got canned by a local TV news station after getting too cozy interviewing pop princess Britney Spears.
Undaunted, “Dude Schmitz” and his film crew embark upon a Michael Moore-like road trip with the gay male winner of a Britney look-alike contest under the guise of meeting and seeking redemption from Spears.
In reality, Schmitz is sending edited clips of the drag queen back to the unsuspecting TV news station as legitimate video bits. Soon the drag queen, Britney's management team and the TV station get suspicious, and the fun begins.
To enter, send a photo of yourself to Angela Storti at Koch Vision, 22 Harbor Park Drive, Port Washington, N.Y., 11050.
Entries are due Jan. 30, 2004; winners will be announced in February.
