Koch Adopts Brainy Baby

24 May, 2003 By: Joan Villa

Koch Entertainment has signed a deal with the Brainy Baby Co. to distribute Brainy's DVD, VHS and music products to video retail chains.

Three new 45-minute titles introducing early learning fundamentals -- Art, Music and English First Words -- along with Brainy Baby's existing eight video titles and six audio CD products will be released in mid- to late August at $15.98 on VHS and $19.98 on DVD.

“Our plan is to go to all of the major retail chains that handle video, particularly rack accounts and stores like Target, because we're convinced if they give this a shot they'll have great results,” said Michael Rosenberg, president of Koch Entertainment Distribution.

Brainy Baby videos are currently sold in Toys “R” Us, baby stores and gift shops, but Brainy Baby founder and president Dennis Fedoruk said the Koch deal will take the brand “to the next level.”

“Brainy Baby has been distributed in specialty markets for several years and we're now taking it to the next level into the mainstream market,” Fedoruk said.

Fedoruk also sees potential for the titles in rental stores, which he admits is “largely overlooked and untapped.”

Standees and display merchandisers will be available.
