Ground-Zero Entertainment has zeroed in on four new deals recently: three acquisitions and a sale.
From South American company Patagonik Entertainment, Ground-Zero will handle U.S. distribution for four “Dibu” Spanish-language live-action/animated films for kids.
“We're planning a limited theatrical release for the first, Dibu: The Movie, this September,” said founder and CEO Anthony Perez.
Dibu 2: The Revenge of Nasty, Dibu 3: The Big Adventure and Dibu 4: The Penguins to the Rescue will follow.
Some of the 11 movies Ground-Zero has acquired from the Spain-based company BRB will also receive limited theatrical releases.
In addition, Ground-Zero has entered into its first multipicture co-production deal, with Belgium-based Niolan Entertainment. The first of the partnership's films is The Bricks, which will star rappers Trick Daddy and Trina and starts production in Florida June 15. Ground-Zero will handle domestic distribution, and Niolan will distribute it in Europe.
Netherlands-based Visions Entertainment Group has purchased 12 urban titles from Ground-Zero for overseas distribution.
