June is Ratings Awareness Month

Industry trade groups have named June “Entertainment Ratings and Labeling Awareness Month” for the third consecutive year.

The Coalition of Entertainment Retail Trade Associations (CERTA) is urging video, game and music retailers to kick off the summer by paying extra attention to media ratings systems by reinforcing store policies at the store level and educating their consumer bases.

The group has also created a public service announcement about ratings that can be played on a loop in stores. It is available at http://tinyurl.co.uk/anan .

CERTA represents more than 2,000 retailers and exhibitors, who operate more than 40,000 theatres, video and video game stores, music stores, online music and media services, and other entertainment retailers. CERTA is comprised of the Digital Media Association (DiMA), Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA), National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM), and the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO).
