Internet TV service Joost will offer content from Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), Hasbro, the National Hockey League (NHL), Sports Illustrated and Sony Pictures Television.
“[These partners] represent the quality and wide range of programming that Joost offers viewers,” said Yvette Alberdingk Thijm, EVP of content strategy and acquisition.
TBS content includes episodes of “Adult Swim” fare such as “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” and “Robot Chicken,” as well as programs from CNN such as “Anderson Cooper 360” and “Larry King Live.” For Joost users who want up-to-the-minute news, the CNN RSS feed has been added to the Joost news ticker.
Sony offers episodes from such vintage shows as “Charlie's Angels,” “Spider-Man,” “Starsky & Hutch,” “SWAT,” “Action,” “Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl,” “Who's the Boss?” and “NewsRadio.”
Sports Illustrated will distribute video shorts and interviews from this year's swimsuit issue photo shoots. Full-length swimsuit programs and additional behind-the-scenes footage will be available later this month.
The NHL will begin broadcasting a selection of historic games from the league archives. Full-game replays and highlights from regular-season and Stanley Cup Playoff games will follow.
Hasbro brings to Joost two channels offering the 1980s cartoon adaptations of the toy company's popular brands “The Transformers” and “G.I. Joe.”
