Young Guns Special Edition Due April 223 Feb, 2003 By: Brendan Howard
“Alex, if you stay they're gonna kill you. And then I'm gonna have to go around and kill all the guys who killed you. That's a lot of killing.”
So said Billy the Kid, played by Emilio Estevez, in 1988's Young Guns, a film that helped to make Westerns cool for the teenage set.
Fifteen years later, Artisan Home Entertainment is bringing Young Guns back, this time on VHS and special edition DVD with extras.
The title streets April 22 (prebook March 25). DVD is $19.98, VHS $14.98.
The film followed the adventures of six gun-toting young men hired by a ranch owner to protect his land. When he's murdered, the six vow revenge.
The DVD has a brand-new digitally remastered widescreen version of the film with 5.1 DTS and 2.0 Dolby Digital Audio.
DVD extras include audio commentary with the six stars: Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Dermot Mulroney, Lou Diamond Phillips and Casey Siemaszko; a documentary on the real Billy the Kid; and a “Gunning for the Facts” trivia track.
The DVD also will include an insert advertising a $5 mail-in rebate offer with the purchase of the title and one other select Artisan special edition DVD.
Marketing will include a radio campaign and a male-focused print campaign in such magazines as Playboy, Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly.
