It didn't launch a thousand ships, but it reaped $133.2 million at the box office, and Warner Home Video is bringing it to DVD.
Troy, starring Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and Diane Kruger, streets Jan. 4, with a prebook date of Nov. 30.
The ‘R'-rated action-drama, based on the Greek tale told in The Iliad and directed by Wolfgang Petersen, will arrive on a two-disc DVD in both widescreen and full-frame formats.
Priced at $29.95, bonus materials are Easter eggs; a behind-the-scenes featurette “In the Thick of the Battle” that shows the making of the battle sequences; a documentary “From Ruins to Reality” that looks at how the ruins of ancient Troy was unearthed and how the film's production designers created their own version of the city; a featurette “Troy: An Effects Odyssey” that reveals the secrets of Troy's visual and sound effects; and “Gallery of the Gods,” a 3-D photo gallery tour of Mount Olympus with an introduction to the ancient Greek gods and goddesses.
A two-pack DVD set of Troy and National Geographic's documentary Beyond the Movie: Troy will also be available for $44.93 Jan. 4 (prebook date Nov. 30).
