Rubbadubbers Splashes to Video From Hit17 Dec, 2003 By: Brendan Howard
Kids love playing in the bathtub. The few inches of water provide ocean adventures for toys and action figures.
“The Rubbadubbers” -- a stop-motion animation children's series that's been running on Nickelodeon since September -- uses that concept, following the adventures of a toy frog, a wind-up toy shark and others as they imagine toothbrushes as trees, sponges as desert islands and bath racks as sailing ships.
Hit Entertainment will be distributing the series on home video, with the first title, Here Come the Rubbadubbers, due Jan. 27 (prebook Dec. 30).
That first volume will include a $2 coupon off the purchase of the second volume, Tubb's Pirate Treasure, March 16 (prebook Feb. 17).
The titles will be $16.99 on DVD and $12.99 on VHS. Each video will include five stories.
Hit Entertainment will support the release with national print and online advertising that includes a promotional sweepstakes in Parents and Child magazines.
