<I>Pirates</I> DVD On Board Dec. 2

Buena Vista Home Entertainment Dec. 2 will release Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in a two-disc DVD at $29.99 SRP and VHS at $24.99. Direct prebook order deadline is Oct. 7; distributor pre-book deadline is Oct. 21.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and starring Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Jonathan Pryce, Pirates is the third-highest grossing film in 2003, with more than $275 million in box office sales after eight weeks in release, including $10.8 million over the Labor Day weekend. The actioner is on the verge of taking over the second top-grossing film of the year, The Matrix Reloaded, which stands at nearly $280 million. Disney's Finding Nemo, at nearly $333 million, still holds the top spot.

The Pirates DVD, featuring Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, and VHS include audio commentaries from director Gore Verbinski, Depp and others, deleted scenes, a blooper reel, an interactive history of pirates, an image gallery and behind-the-scenes footage.
