The market for Internet TV service will rise to $5.79 billion in 2011, expanding by nearly 14 times the market of $422.7 million in 2006, according to technology research firm iSuppli Corp. Additionally, the bandwidth required for Internet TV will grow by more than 44 times.
According to iSuppli projections, Internet TV revenue will double by 2008, then nearly double each year after. Internet TV is defined as professionally produced and distributed mass-market video that is monetized via advertising and distributed through broadband Internet connections. While news is the largest revenue category in 2006, it will be No. 3 by 2009, behind sports and entertainment.
