Ingram's Fross To Retire2 Apr, 2002 By: Thomas K. Arnold
Vern Fross, the longtime S VP of sales and marketing at Ingram Entertainment and a fixture at trade shows and other industry events, will retire at the end of the month after more than 20 years in distribution.
John Reding has been tapped to replace Fross in leading Ingram's sales team and acting as liaison between Ingram and the studios. His promotion takes effect May 1.
Two other Ingram executives are being promoted as of May 1: Bob Geistman will become SVP of interactive media and Bill Bryant will become VP of sales, responsible for key account relationships in the video specialty, grocery and drug segments of the marketplace and for Ingram's National Sales Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
After his retirement, Fross will continue to serve as a consultant to Ingram Entertainment and will be elected to the board of directors of Ingram Entertainment Holdings Inc., the video wholesaler's parent company.
Fross began his career in video distribution as Des Moines branch manager of Commtron Corp. He worked his way up the ranks and by the time Ingram bought Commtron in 1992 was SVP of sales and marketing. Fross joined the merged company and has continued to oversee all Ingram sales activities. He has been a board member of the National Association of Video Distributors (NAVD) for 12 years and served as president for two years.
