IndieDVD To Release Vintage Ripa

13 Jan, 2003 By: Jessica Wolf

Independent video production/distribution company IndieDVD scored the DVD rights to TV personality Kelly Ripa's first film, The Stand-In.

Filmed in 1999, The Stand-In features the “All My Children” star and “Live” talk show host as an upwardly mobile law student dating a struggling aspiring actor. The film was written by Ripa's childhood friend Robbie Bryan, who partially based the story on his experiences working as a stand-in for Michael J. Fox.

The Stand-In streets Feb. 25 on DVD from IndieDVD and also stars Dan Grimaldi, David Ogden Stiers and Jaid Barrymore. In 1999 Ripa won the New York International Film & Video Festival best actress award for the film. Director Roberto Monticello won best director at the same festival. The title is available for preorder at Amazon.com.

Portland-based IndieDVD promotes and distributes independent film — in the past acquiring rights to sleeper gems like Drawing Flies, produced by Kevin Smith and starring Jason Lee.
