Pixar reported tripled earnings on the strength of DVD and VHS sales for The Incredibles, which has sold 17.7 million units in both formats.
For its first quarter ended April 2, Pixar reported revenue of $161.2 million and earnings of $81.9 million, or 67 cents per share, compared to $53.8 million and earnings of $26.7 million, or 23 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter.
“We're off to a terrific start, with The Incredibles shaping up to be the best-selling DVD of 2005,” said Pixar CEO Steve Jobs. “Cars is looking great, and we're also very excited about the 10-year anniversary re-release of Toy Story on DVD this fall.”
