In recognition of Earth Day April 22, Image Entertainment Inc. through the end of the week is offering free streams or downloads of Oscar-nominated Imax documentary The Living Sea.
The title is the first of several new Imax releases Chatsworth, Calif.-based Image secured electronic and packaged media rights to, including Blu-ray.
Released through digital unit, Egami Media, the 13-year-old Meryl Streep-narrated documentary is available online at MSN Green, CinemaNow, Movielink, Amazon Unbox, BitTorrent, Vudu and mSpot.
With music by Sting, Living Sea explores the depths of the ocean, viewers come face-to-face with life-sized humpback whales, jellyfish, clams, Hawaiian surf and deep sea dives.
“This event will expose consumers to the fast arriving future of digital video delivery where plastic discs and packaging is no longer necessary,” Mitch Mallon, VP of digital sales with Egami.
Image expects Egami to generate $4 million in revenue in fiscal 2009, including $1.8 million in video, up from $989,000 in fiscal 2008.
