Sony Pictures Entertainment's Black Hawk Down opened wide this weekend after a limited-release run and finished as North America's No. 1 movie in domestic gross box office receipts, according to preliminary estimates. As of Sunday, the Ridley Scott-directed war film has grossed approximately $29 million for the three-day weekend.
Another newcomer, Buena Vista's Snow Dogs, opened at No. 2 with about $17.5 million.
Dropping to No. 3 after five weeks was New Line Cinema's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, with a weekend total estimate of $13.03 million, bring its cume to about $228.32 million. At No. 4 with approximately $11 million was Universal's A Beautiful Mind, which dropped from No. 2 last week. Its cume is now nearly $74 million. The No.
