'Idol' Performances Hit iTunes20 Feb, 2008 By: Billy Gil
“American Idol” junkies have a new method of consuming more “Idol” at their fingertips: Fox Broadcasting Co., Fox Interactive Media, 19 Entertainment, FremantleMedia and Apple Inc. have partnered to make the show's season-seven performances available on iTunes.
Starting with the show's 24 semifinalists, music performances are available for 99 cents a song, while a full video with all 12 top finalist performances will be available for $1.99, starting March 11. Fans also can preorder performances, which are then automatically downloaded the day after a show airs.
“We have some truly outstanding talent this year, and by working with Apple and iTunes, we're giving viewers another great way to enjoy America's brightest new stars from ‘Idol,’ said Simon Fuller, creator of “American Idol” and founder of 19 Entertainment.
Additionally, links from free streaming performances on americanidol.com to iTunes will be put in place.
