<I>American Idol</I> Videos Ready to Rock

NewRoads, an outsourcer of fulfillment and customer care services, announced it is providing fulfillment services for direct-response sales of DVD/VHS tape distribution for Fox's hit TV series American Idol: The Search for a Superstar.

Portland, OR-based Respond2 Entertainment, which is creating and distributing the title, is releasing two compilations of the competition: a special collector's edition sold exclusively via a direct-response TV campaign and dedicated Web site (www.americanidolvideos.com) and a general tape release via mass retail distribution.

NewRoads will provide all the customer-facing services for American Idol product purchased through the direct-response TV and print initiatives and Web site, including order-taking, customer service call-center operations, product packing and delivery, and customer support.

"NewRoads has proven with other clients that it can handle the fast-paced demands of the direct-response industry. We again turned to the NewRoads team for its ability to jump in and help us get American Idol into the marketplace for fans to enjoy," said Tim O'Leary, president and CEO of Respond2.

Orders for the videos and DVDs are being taken now for the special edition, with shipments beginning in early October. The retail edition will be in stores beginning Oct. 15. The 90-minute DVD is priced at $19.99, while the 60-minute VHS version is $14.99.
