<I>50 First Dates</I> to Street with Hawaiian Vacation Contest

The home video release of the $116.7 comedy blockbuster 50 First Dates, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, is being promoted by Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment (CTHE) with a multimillion-dollar TV, radio and print campaign as well as a contest for a Hawaiian vacation.

The title streets June 15 (prebook May 13) on rental-priced VHS and $28.95 special edition DVD.

The sweepstakes winner and a guest will go on a 5-day/4-night vacation to Oahu, and get a free massage and passes to one of the locations in the film, Sea Life Park.

The contest will be promoted in print, on the Web and in DVD inserts, according to CTHE VP of marketing Tracey Garvin.

The “top three funniest” extras for the DVD so far, according to executive director of marketing Jennifer Anderson, are the deleted scenes, the gag reel and a “Talkin' Pidgin” featurette with Hawaiians explaining local slang. Other extras will include making-of featurettes and commentary with the director and Barrymore.
