Shrek 2 to Hit Stores Nov. 5

5 Aug, 2004 By: Jessica Wolf

The $433 million box office Shrek 2 will come to video Friday, Nov. 5, from DreamWorks Home Entertainment. It is priced at $19.95 for the DVD (MAP) and $15.95 for the VHS (MAP).

Marketing plans and DVD elements are still being finalized, but more information should be available on both fronts in the next couple of weeks, a DreamWorks spokesperson said.

Shrek 2 follows a similar release strategy as its predecessor in 2001, which wound up selling more than 42 million units on DVD and VHS, according to the studio.

Like the first movie, which debuted on video Friday November 2, 2001, the same day Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc. hit theaters, Shrek 2 arrives on video day-and-date this year with the theatrical release of Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles.

The Incredibles follows the adventures of a superhero family and features voice talent from Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Lee and Craig T. Nelson.

The original Shrek garnered $268 million at the box office and won the first Academy Award for best animated feature.
