Will Smith actioner I Am Legend is getting the ultimate collector’s edition treatment from Warner Home Video. A three-disc DVD ($49.92) and two-disc Blu-ray ($59.99) arrives Dec. 9 (prebook Nov. 4).

The new edition (the original DVD and Blu-ray were released March 18) houses two versions of the film, one with a controversial alternate ending, as well as a digital copy of the alternate version and hours of special features.

Disc one of the DVD has the theatrical version as well as a commentary by director Francis Lawrence and producer-screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, while disc two has the alternate version and its digital copy. Disc three has the featurette “Cautionary Tale: The Science of I Am Legend” plus 23 making-of featurettes, four animated comics and 12 deleted scenes.

The Blu-ray Disc has the theatrical version on the first disc, with focus points that explore the making of I Am Legend plus some of the same material on disc two of the DVD version: 21 of the making-of featurettes, “Cautionary Tale” and the animated comics. Disc two has the alternate version, its digital copy, the remaining two making-of featurettes and the 12 deleted scenes found on the DVD version.

The previously released DVD and Blu-ray Disc of I Am Legend topped the sales and rental charts in March, according to Home Media Magazine market research. The film made $256.4 million at the U.S. box office.
