HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment turned Hollywood Boulevard into Disneyland Oct. 19, at least for a few hours.

Hundreds of kids — most wearing fairy wings — descended on Disney’s El Capitan Theatre for the worldwide premiere of Tinker Bell, walking the red (or in this case, green) carpet along with voice actors from the show and other stars.

“I hope they give me a DVD. That’s why I’m here,” joked “Lincoln Heights” actress Nicki Micheaux, who brought her daughter to the premiere. “She loves the movie, and she can watch it as many times as she wants when she gets home.”

Bailee Madison, 9, from Bridge to Terabithia, said the movie offered a great message about being yourself.

“It’s something every kid will enjoy, and I hope their parents too,” she said.

Disney’s premiere — which drew more than 700 people — preceded the Oct. 28 DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases of the film. Director Brad Raymond said the Tinker Bell experience is a much different one when kids are watching it with their parents.

“You see their reaction, the way they relate to the characters and the message,” he said. “When you watch it with kids, you get an entirely different perspective.”

Tinker Bell producer Jeannine Roussel said the Blu-ray edition will offer an amazing picture.

“We’ve seen it so many times, but I was just talking this morning with my husband that we need to see it on Blu-ray,” Roussel said.

Following the film, Disney invited the children and their families to play Tinker Bell games and to meet Tinker Bell herself, and her friends, at a party at the Hollywood and Highland center.

Also in attendance were John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Pixar and Disney Animation Studios; Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios; Bob Chapek, president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment; and Lori MacPherson, North American GM for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.
