HP and Trans World Offer Hard-to-Find Titles

19 Jun, 2007 By: John Latchem

Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Trans World Entertainment Corp. have teamed to offer consumers a diverse catalog of hard-to-find movie, TV and specialty video content on DVD.

Retail chain Trans World is the first company to use HP's DVD-manufactured-on-demand service. Consumers can log onto Trans World's fye.com online store to place orders, which are processed and mailed within 24 hours.

“Through this service, we're enabling customers to tap into a vast selection of content that until now has been locked away in a Hollywood vault,” said Willem de Zoete, VP and GM of Digital Entertainment Services for HP.

HP's manufactured-on-demand services can be used to produce a DVD of any movie or program, regardless of niche or obscurity. Content currently targeted for release includes classic and older TV shows, foreign movies, specialty genres, indie movies, and recent sporting events.

The service is a component of HP Video Merchant Services, announced in February, which enables retailers to fulfill the requests of consumers wanting video content in a variety of ways, including digital download, DVD and high-definition disc.
