HIT Launches Movie Division

HIT Entertainment, which provides family-brand videos of properties such as “Barney” and “Bob the Builder,” has launched a Los Angeles-based theatrical division, HIT Movies.

HIT Movies will develop family features and build upon HIT brands, which also include “Thomas & Friends,” “Angelina Ballerina” and “Rainbow Magic.” Nickelodeon Films’ Julia Pistor will lead the division, and United Talent Agency (UTA) will represent it.

“Julia brings to HIT a wonderful sensibility for family entertainment,” said Jeff Dunn, president and CEO of HIT Entertainment. “ … Just as HIT Entertainment is synonymous with trusted, high quality entertainment for children, HIT Movies — under Julia’s direction and with the vast and impressive talents of UTA — will help expand the world of HIT Entertainment and build properties and franchises that resonate with parent and kids worldwide.”

Pistor previously headed Nickelodeon’s movie division when Dunn was that company’s president of film and enterprises. There, she helped develop such films as Rugrats: The Movie and Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events.

HIT Entertainment home video is distributed by Lionsgate.
