HIT Entertainment has landed a big one.

Aardman Animations has tapped the British entertainment company to manage the licensing and home entertainment rights in the United States and Canada to three of its properties, including the award-winning Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.

“We are delighted at the prospect of partnering with HIT in the United States and Canada on these our two most precious properties,” said Aardman COO Stephen Moore. “Their talent in managing top international brands will give Shaun and Wallace & Gromit a great springboard for tremendous success.”

“HIT Entertainment continues to explore new and exciting children's properties, adding to our portfolio of world-renowned brands,” said HIT EVP of Consumer Products Worldwide Peter Byrne. “We are delighted to be working with Aardman, whose reputation is second to none in creating and developing some of the most unique and endearing properties in the business.”

Aardman Classics is the third property of which HIT will be in charge. Shaun the Sheep debuted in the United States in August on Disney, and appears in 145 territories worldwide. “Wallace & Gromit” is a long-running series, shorts and most recently the Academy Award winning feature-length film, The Curse of the Were Rabbit. Another Wallace & Gromit project is slated for late 2008.
