High-Def Drives Coming Soon to PCs7 May, 2007 By: Jessica Wolf
PC users could get their hands on system dual-format high-definition drives as early as this week, according to an article at PCMag.com.
A rep from computer giant Hewlett-Packard told the magazine that dual-drive option will be available starting May 9 for inclusion in select PC products, including the HP Pavilion Media Center series.
Hewlett-Packard demoed its Media Center PC at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, optionally equipped with the LG Electronics Super Multi Blue Blu-ray Disc Rewriter and HD DVD-ROM drive.
The company has yet to release pricing information on the dual-equipped high-def enabled computers, but speculation is it will run in the same $1200 price range as LG's Super Multi Blue dual high-def set-top player.
The HP Media Center computers also can be equipped with a digital cable receiver for viewing and recording high-definition TV shows, according to PCMag.com
