HD DVD on Retail Display15 Oct, 2005 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Budding next-generation disc format HD DVD recently got its first exposure to U.S. retail at Bjorn's Audio Video in San Antonio.
The demo was a daylong demonstration of movie trailers from Peter Jackson's upcoming King Kong (Universal Pictures) and Warner Bros.' Batman Begins, among others, on a Toshiba 1080p DLP rear projection TV.
The retailer, which is celebrating 30 years in business, has been a favorite launch pad for technology, including the recent debut of Sharp's world's largest 65-inch LCD flat screen TV, according to owner Bjorn Dybdahl.
“The manufacturers trust us,” he said. “In two weeks [Oct. 25], we will have a Blu-ray [Disc] display.”
