HBO Video, Monster Media Launch Interactive Virgin Megastore Campaign

20 Nov, 2007 By: Billy Gil

HBO Video, in partnership with interactive-advertising company Monster Media, has launched an interactive marketing campaign at 11 Virgin Megastores around the country.

The interactive storefront will appear from Nov. 19 through Dec. 31 at locations in New York (in Times Square and Union Square); San Francisco; Los Angeles; Anaheim, Calif.; Hollywood, Calif.; Ontario, Calif.; Orlando, Fla.; Dallas; Denver and Phoenix.

The displays appear on 52-inch flat-screen LCD TVs in store windows that allow for interaction through motion-detected screens. Content includes HBO shows on DVD such as “The Sopranos” and “The Wire” in a wrapped gift box on screen, which customers can open with a hand movement, revealing the DVD set as well as interactive snowflakes.

“We're always looking to develop unique ways of marketing HBO Video DVDs — from our award-winning advertising campaigns to groundbreaking retail programs,” said Sofia Chang, SVP of marketing and creative services for HBO Video. “The Virgin Megastores' metropolitan locations provide the perfect window for this unexpected showcasing of HBO programming on DVD.”
