Hastings Entertainment Offers Holiday Trades

9 Dec, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey

Hastings Entertainment is getting into the holiday spirit with the launch of its “Have Christmas on Hastings” program, where customers can bring any number of used entertainment items to one of Hastings’ 154 stores and get store credit to buy gifts.

“The program so far is a real hit with thousands of holiday shoppers,” said Kevin Ball, VP of marketing for Hastings. “Everyone has unwanted books, CDs, movies and games around the house. We’ve made it easy to turn unwanted clutter into gifts for other people. It helps you save money and improve your world. Everyone wins.”

In other news, Hastings reported its top-selling items following the Thanksgiving holiday. Blu-ray Discs and players sold very well, according to the company, and Hancock, Wall-E and Fred Claus were among the top video sellers. However, it was merchandise (books, soundtracks, etc.) related to Summit Entertainment’s box-office hit Twilight that topped the bestsellers list. Other top ranking items included video games for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, iPods, and toys and DVDs from standup comedian Jeff Dunham.
