MGM Home Entertainment and eBay users raised more than $7,000 for VIAAC, the Video Industry Aids Action Committee, by participating in an exclusive Hannibal auction of signed merchandise.
The auction, hosted by MGM Home Entertainment, ran from August 21-30 in conjunction with the launch of the Hannibal Special Edition DVD on August 21.
A Hannibal script signed by Anthony Hopkins was responsible for almost half of the amount raised, selling for $2,957.77. A Hannibal poster signed by Hopkins sold for $830, a "Joy of Cooking" cookbook signed by Hopkins sold for $870, a rare Silence of the Lambs poster signed by Hopkins and Foster sold for $1,325, and an authentic Hannibal costume worn by Hopkins sold for $1,251.26 -- for a grand total of $7,234.01 raised on behalf of VIAAC.
"MGM has been an ardent supporter of VIAAC for many years," commented Sue Procko, VIAAC president. "We're very pleased that the Hannibal eBay promotion was a success and we thank MGM for their contribution. It allows us to continue servicing AIDS organizations across the nation."
