'Halo 3' Draws 1 Million Preorders

The Xbox 360 exclusive video game 'Halo 3' launches Sept. 25.

Microsoft reported the upcoming Xbox 360-exclusive game Halo 3 has exceeded 1 million preorders faster than any video game in history. Taking advantage of the momentum, several leading consumer brands have signed on to promote the game.

Convenience chain 7-Eleven will offer a variety of in-store promotions, such as collectible Slurpee cups, and will partner with Mountain Dew and Doritos to offer Halo-themed prizes. Mountain Dew will unveil the first beverage co-branded with a video game, Mountain Dew Game Fuel.

Also helping promote the game are Pontiac, Burger King and Comcast.

Consumers can choose one of three versions of the game, which streets Sept. 25: the “Standard Edition,” “Limited Edition” and the collectible “Legendary Edition.”
