13 Oct, 2005 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Beginning later this month, cable's 24-hour Hallmark Channel will make available about 3,000 hours of programming on Akimbo Systems' subscriber-based video-on-demand service for Internet-enabled television.

Initial programming will include Alice in Wonderland and The 10th Kingdom.

Akimbo, which is available for $9.99 per month, currently offers independent films, video blogs, music videos, home improvement shows, children's programming and select re-broadcasts of Major League Baseball games.

Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel, which are owned by Crown Media, derives their content from Hallmark Entertainment and third parties. Hallmark Entertainment is owned by privately held Hallmark Cards, distributes content on DVD and has a majority stake in Crown Media.
