Gateway to Add Music Subscriptions27 Aug, 2002 By: Hive News
Personalized music software company Musicmatch will offer its digital music subscription service, Radio MX, with all new Gateway consumer PCs, the companies announced today.
Radio MX is available through the Musicmatch Jukebox software program and gives Gateway customers instant access to an online music subscription service.
"Digital music is an incredibly popular application for Gateway customers today, and the Musicmatch Radio MX service gives them the opportunity to tap into a vast selection of popular music quickly and affordably, while respecting artists and their copyrights," said Gateway SVP Bart Brown.
The deal extends a year-old relationship between Gateway and Musicmatch Jukebox by offering instant access to Radio MX.
Gateway, which offers authorized music downloads on its Web site, began offering free, three-hour classes in downloading music to its customers in July.
"Gateway is committed to giving consumers a great digital music experience and Musicmatch is happy to partner with them on that strategy," said Bob Ohlweiler, Musicmatch SVP of business development. "By offering instant access to Radio MX, Gateway is building a compelling legal music service directly into the consumer PC and enhancing its entertainment value."
In addition to being shipped with Gateway PCs, Musicmatch Jukebox and Radio MX are available for download at Gateway's Digital Zone, where consumers can learn how to turn their Gateway PCs into digital media centers. Gateway also features Musicmatch Jukebox and Radio MX in its Music:)Ware entertainment software packages.
