GameStop: PS4 Allocation Moved Fast

Blu-ray, DVD Boxed Sets Help Hastings Narrow Q3 Loss

Sales of Blu-ray Disc movies and DVD box sets helped Hastings Entertainment post a 1.5% increase in third-quarter (ended Oct. 31) same-store movies comps compared to a 0.4% increase during the same period last year. Rental revenue dropped 9% to $12.1 million due to ongoing competitiveness with Redbox and subscription video-on-demand services.

NPD: More Streaming Than Disc Renting

Netflix streamed 58% more titles (2.6 million) from January to September this year, than the collective number of movie disc rentals (1.1 million), according to The NPD Group.
